A new era for Women's Golf
Golf is currently one of the fastest growing sports for women and girls for good reason!
Golf is one of the best lifelong sports women can play. Unlike contact sports, golf is low impact, allowing you to build fitness, strength and conditioning with reduced risk of injury. You don't have to be strong, sporty, or even have great eye-hand coordination to take up golf, as sequencing and timing tend to be more important elements of the game. These are both areas women excel at.
A round of golf offers a chance to escape from life's increasing daily demands. The course is the perfect place for grounding in a peaceful, natural setting, while playing golf is the perfect way to focus your intentions, mind and movement – allowing you to be truly in the moment.
With golf, you don't have to compete against an opponent, rather you play the course to better your own score. However, golf is also a social game, as it is usually played in small groups, offering a chance to have a few laughs with friends or make new ones!
Golf is also regarded as the ultimate corporate sport - a great place to meet like-minded professionals and enhance networks for the future.
Women's specific golf equipment
Recent advancements in women's golf means that equipment manufacturers now offer clubs that are properly and uniquely weighted and sized for women. Even golf balls are now available in unique, female-specific versions.
If you’re considering taking up golf, but worried about having to invest in a whole new kit, you don’t need much equipment to start and we provide all equipment for beginners. Clothing-wise, there are no strict dress codes at Wembley Golf Course. However, you do need balanced, comfortable footwear to play (no heels or thongs).
Lessons for Women
Have you ever thought about picking up a golf club for the first time, or has it been some time since you last picked one up? Let Claire help get you started or back on-course.
Initially, Clare recommends a private lesson, to get a good understanding of what each individual needs and how to progress with a tailored plan.
However, lots of women like to learn as part of a group, so Claire has developed a series of Clinics and Group Lessons for Women. Her programs are designed to teach you everything you need to know in an easy three step format.
Whether playing for business or recreation, Claire will help you develop confidence in your abilities and gain a better understanding of the game at every lesson.
Women's 1 - Sessions are designed for beginners, to introduce new golfers to this great sport by providing the fundamental skills and knowledge the game requires. It will give you a great base to start your golf journey.
We will cover all the “basics"
- Concept of the Game
- Stance
- Grip
- Set-Up
- Full Swing
- Short Game
Women's 2 - The next step for the beginner is to consolidate their new swing and review what we've learnt in Women's 1.
We will then progress to learn more techniques like chipping and driving.
Individual practice is encouraged during this crucial development time for quicker improvement.
Women's 2 is often repeated until the golfer is confident to move onto the next level.
Women's 3 - The next step for the novice golfer is to learn how to play on the course and start to enjoy the game.
Claire will help you consolidate what you have established in the Level 2 Series, then we learn everything about getting out On Course, including this knowledge before going out.
- Pre-Shot Routine
- Alignment
- Shot Selection
- Rules & Etiquette
- Golf Terminology
"Once I had the basics down, I was so ready to take it out on the golf course. Claire’s on-course lessons are amazing – I learnt so much from every session. They gave me the confidence and motivation to play more often. I also met other students at Golf Apre's, some are now golf buddies who I play with every week."–Katie (Perth)
